For homework, you have been investigating the BP Education website, trying to discover why in the world BP would want to give away over 5 million dollars each year to teachers. We want to know what you have discovered about BP and why energy education is so important to them.

BP IS A COMPANY THAT EVERY YEAR GIVES AWAY MORE THAN $5 MILLION DOLLARS TO PEOPLE WHO WANT TO LEAD PROJECTS INENERGY EDUCATION. SO WHY WOULD THEY GIVE AWAY OVER $5 MILLION DOLLARS?! THEY DO THIS BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE THAT EDUCATION IS A NATURAL PRIORITY. THEY’VE SPONSORED AND DEVELOPED PROGRAMS AND CLASSROOMS RESOURCES TO HELP STUDENTS AND TEACHERS EXPLORE ENERGY, SCIENCE, AND MATH.
BP BELIEVES THAT EDUCATIONCONTRIBUTES TO SUSTAIN SOCIETIES BY PROVIDING PEOPLE WITH KNOWLEDGE. THEY BELIEVE THAT EDUCATION LEADS TO MANY GREAT OPPORTUNITIES. THEY ARE EXPANDING THE A+ FOR ENERGY PROGRAM TO SEVERAL OTHER STATES AND COUNTIES: ALABAMA, ILLINOIS, INDIANA, NEW MEXICO, AND OHIO. BP IS GIVING $5 MILLIONDOLLAR GRANTS FOR TEACHERS WHO SUPPORT ENERGY EDUCATION AND ENERGY CONSERVATION. SO FAR BP HAS ALREADY BENIFITED MORE THAN 300,000 STUDENTS AND 5,000 TEACHERS.
IN NOVEMBER 2005, BP LAUNCHED THE LOS ANGELES EDUCATIONAL COLLABORATIVE, A FOUR-YEAR, $3.75 MILLION PROGRAM DESIGNED TO RAISE LEVELS OF ATTAINMENT AMONG VARIOUS COMUNITIES. THE COLLABORATIVE ENCORAGES STUDENTS TO ASPIRE HIGHER EDUCATION THROUGH AFTER-SCHOOL DISSCUSIONSON SOCIAL JUSTICE TOPICES, ART SESSIONS ETC… THERE IS ALSO A PARENTS’ PROGRAM THAT FOCOSES ON LEADERSHIP SKILLS, FINACIAL LITERACY AND UNDERSTANDING AND NEGOTIATING THE EDUCATION SYSTEM.
A+ FOR ENERGY IS A GOOD EXAMPLE. IT’S BP’S EDUCATION PROGRAM, RECOGNIZING EDUCATORS WHO SUBMIT INNOVATIVE AND CREATIVE IDEAS ON HOW TO TEACH CHILDREN ABOUT ENERGY, ENRGY CONSERVATION AND ALTERNATIVE ENERGY CHOICES.
THE PROGRAM WOULDN’T BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT BP’S EDUCATIONAL ALLIES IN CALIFORNIA, TEXAS AND AT THE NATIONAL LEVEL. THEIR CREATIVE TALENTS AND ENERGY HAVE HELPED THEM REACH TEACHERS IN THE AREAS WHERE A+ FOR ENERGY IS ACTIVE.
BP HAS THREE EDUCATIONAL ALLIES, THE NATIONAL PROGRAM PARTNERS, THE CALIFORNIA PROGRAM PARTNERS, AND THE TEXAS PROGRAM PARTNERS.
THE NATIONAL ENERGY EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT PROJECT PROMOTES AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE SCIENTIFIC, ECONOMIC AND ENVIROMENTAL IMPACTS OF ENERGY. THEIR GOAL IS TO HELF STUDENTS AND TEACHERS MAKE INFORMED EDUCATIONAL DECISIONS ABOUT ENERGY-RELATED ISSUES.
THE ENVIRONMENTAL MEDIA ASSOCIATION WAS CREATED IN 1989, WITH THE SIMPLE BUT POWERFUL CONCEPT THAT THROUGH TELEVISION AND FILM, THE ENTIRE ENTERTAINMENT COMMUNITY COULD INFLUENCE THE ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE.
BP HAS DONE MANY WONDERFUL THINGS FOR OUR COMMUNITY AND THEY DESERVE THREE HARTY CHEERS AND ALL OUR THANKS. WITHOUT BP SEVEN ARROWS WOULDN’T HAVE THERE LOVELY NEW PROGRAM, MASTERS.

i think they give away all that money becuse they are trying to tell people to stop using so much electricicity because its causing global warming and melting the artic killing polor bears and other animals because its not as cold and the ice is melting and the water level is getting way higher because of that.
I found out that for BP it's a natural priority for education and in the USA they give grantsto schools to promote learning more about energy, math, and science. They belive that education contributes to societies so they want to help make societies stronger by education. A+ for energy is the program run in the USA where they provide 5 million in grants and scolarships.
